All in a day's work Empty All in a day's work

Post  Ravictavius Sat Jul 10, 2010 2:16 am

As he leaned back against the smooth concrete wall of the convenience store, Ravic stared up at the gun metal gray sky and grunted at the thought of the impending rain. Tilting his head down in thought, his chin resting against his chest, he ponders the events that had unfolded before him in the last few days. First came the contact, the one with the orders that he was to follow; and orders part of him couldn’t wait to complete immediately. But rushing in head on was something he learned was best to avoid as much as possible, one mistake could end it all, possibly permanently.

Instead, it was better to come up with a plan. Learn the targets every aspect of life; when they ate, slept, worked, and all other seemingly useless notions of daily life. After learning more about the target then they knew about themselves, that was when the fun began to be part of the equation. Where is the best place to carry out the elimination? At home? At work? After they say goodbye to their families in the morning on their way to the car? Each target had their own unique method which added to the fun. No two contracts were the same in execution, only in results.

Achieving those results lied more in the hands of those issuing the contracts. Some simply wanted a particular individual to disappear in the easiest and fastest manner possible; while others wanted more of a symbolic message to be conveyed. This was one of such contracts, instead of simply filling the man with bullets or dumping him into the ocean with his legs and arms tied; this was to be much more extravagant and grand. The muffled sobs and groans from inside the convenience store brought Ravic back from his quiet contemplation.

Turning his head in the direction of the windows, his eyes fell upon the cans of kerosene that were strewn around the back lot of the store, their contents already having been sloshed around the walls, floors, and nick-knacks of the store; the light from the fluorescence turning the liquid into swirls of purples, teals, and silver as it ebbed and flowed across the linoleum floor. At the center of the mess, was the owner of the store; bound, gagged and who also had the displeasure of being the target that had to be made example of in this glorious fashion. And glorious it will be.

Flipping the collar of his bomber jacket up to shield against the crisp, cold wind that began to pick up; Ravic turned to leave, reaching into his pocket and fishing out a pack of cigarettes. Tapping one out of its packaging he brought it to his lips, pulling out his lighter and coaxed a flame to burst from its tip. Pausing to light the cigarette hanging loosely from his lips, he does not inhale, and instead lets the end smolder and glow red before removing it from his mouth and flicking it behind him. Shoving his hands into the pockets of his jacket, Ravic slowly begins to walk away from the scene of destruction that he masterfully brought to creation.

The muffled screams and bellows from the shop-owner drowned out in the roar of the flames that engulfed his store, Ravic continued to walk down the desolate back streets of the city, stopping only to look up at the swirling gray sky once more as rain began to fall lightly upon his head.
