After looking/reading through the pages of your recruitment thread on APB-Evolved, I have to say I am interested in your gang. I may not be too creative, but I can roleplay and will hopefully do so in the city of San Paro.

So now I'm just wondering if you will take in this stray dog and treat it as one of your own.

    I also have a question.
Am I required to enjoy or understand any music by Tom Waits, including the album from which I assume this gang found its name?

    Evening, Vicarius.

It is nice to hear that you may be looking forward to looking into what exactly the 'Rain Dogs' may in fact be about.

Tom Waits I would say is definitely an inspiration for the imagining of this group; and while integral to its conception, may not be entirely intrinsic to understanding its being. Rather, his creativity and affinity for those cultures and customs of society which may be less considered would be as a guiding gust of wind to our hovercraft ship of lore, losing itself in the exploration of a drowning sea of stale whiskey and cigarette ash. I will bet that even if to hoist the mast at 6am, twice a day may not be your favourite activity, you will for sure find for yourself, if not create, one more fun would you be willing to stay aboard long enough to explore some of the card games and author's clubs grammatical gatherings below deck.

While, you are here, however; who cuts your hair, anyway?

I like that phrase, "required to enjoy." It speaks volumes as to what, exactly, we are not. You are an individual, and by extension, have your own likes, loves, distastes, and hatreds. We are all individuals as well: mutts, mongrels. What makes us a group of Rain Dogs is when our individuality(-ies) are viewed from a passing taxi, or through the window of a dusk-til-dawn diner, merging into a coherent patchwork.

You are not required to enjoy, listen to, or even know about any artist, genre, or bass line. You are you.

To me, Tom Waits, and specifically, the album Rain Dogs, served as a wonderful jumping-off point for the world we seek to create. The characters therein are tragic and romantic, spinning lost through generic metropolitanism. Ecks examined this very well, and thus I will not try to add different adjectives to his words.

I'm thrilled to see that you are interested in joining us, and I'll bet you're much more creative than you credit yourself. I very much look forward to exploring that creativity. Welcome.

In that case I am very interested. I dig the burning ash of the brisk city night. The cool wind's razor edge cutting through the heavy smoke that blocks out even the brightest light. These streets breath life and consume the deathly. I will have to find a room on this ship, I don't believe I am leaving anytime soon.

Would I be able to say that this world you speak of shares some similarities with a show called Cowboy Bebop?

    And thank you Chainer.

I enjoyed your story, Chainer. The music you added for each entry was a nice touch that set the tone/mood for the reading.
