I'd ask if I can start holding my breath, but since Epic Games seems to be in the middle of a modest pile of other titles, I won't bother. What would be nice, though, is if they bought the licensing and the servers for APB and proceeded to open it up for a time while they made the others. A bit of side revenue wouldn't hurt for them, right?

The chances of this happening are very slim. However, if Epic saves us, I promise I will never say another bad thing about Gears >_>

I have no confidence in this. Even if Epic picked up the game they have as much experience wtih MMO's as RTW did. It would likely fall victim to the same issues as before.

Found this while surfing twitter:
Just the simple upgrades shown here would have improved APB by leaps and bounds.

I don't think APB failed because Real Time didn't know what the fuck they were doing. It failed because of a nearly complete lack of communication between those that knew what the fuck they were doing and those who spent the money.
At least, that's what this guy, who worked there on the Dev team, thinks.

That much is true, Ice. RTW knew how to build a game, that was proven with Crackdown. But they used the wrong mentality to build APB and they lacked focus and confidence, which hurt them in the end. If things were addressed out of the gate (like PB being on and working on day 1) then more people would have stuck it out. It is a shame either way, and I am still quite put off because of it. I just could not sit there and listen to people enjoying a new game last night in Vent because I was still so bothered by the failure of this one.
Still, at least the Rain Dogs came out of APB alive and will be soldiering on. Silver lining and all.
