Website Changes
The new APB.com has launched, and now contains a lovely community site, forums, etc. Expect a recruitment thread of ours up by late Saturday (I'm jotting down some literature about us, but this pesky job keeps getting in the way.) Additionally, with this no doubt bringing more traffic here, expect some additions and changes to our own site through this weekend.

Re: Website Changes
I quiver in anticipation. :O lol May I suggest a tech channel by the way? I know most game forums, clan or official have one and some tech stuff is bound to pop up in a game such as this with such high specs. lol
Otherwise just lemme know. I won't be in the game till later, but I'll be roaming around on the comp for awhile and check the forums often, so just hit me up whenever.

Alright, a question out to everyone: I am in the middle of writing our code of conduct right now, and am wondering what you would like to see within.

Re: Website Changes
No running around nude. -.- No seriously...
Mm, I think asking people to show off the Rain Dogs tag some where on vehicle and/or clothing should be there. I'm ok with swearing. In and out of character. How are we gonna handle the OOC/IC distinction? Oh, and no begging for stuff from people? Being offered it is ok, but sponging off others is bad. I'd also say no making profit off other clan mates? But seeing as its a criminal guild that could be worked around..

Already addressed, will mention, though: https://raindogs.forumotion.net/malone-pawn-and-discount-goods-f7/some-soaking-semblance-of-standardized-style-t38.htm

--No nudity
--How to get kicked out (a field guide)
-Procedures
--Roleplaying
---Exclusivity matter
---IC versus OOC

--Gang uniformity
---Fake location clothing
---The RD logo
---Special events and roleplay etiquette
--Resources

Re: Website Changes
I kept crashing earlier, so I'll take a rain check. I'm pretty well set on these - there'll be a draft up later tonight. The 'Start Here,' new roster, and application are up. Thanks so much for your input!

Re: Website Changes
Alright, all finished except the recruitment thread which is actually finished, but for some reason keeps dumping me to the NA splash page when I try to post it.
Edit: Fixed. Apparently their forums don't like ; or ' all the time.

Re: Website Changes
Things to do:
-Find something less cheesy than the news roulette currently at the top of the forum
-New background for forum(?)
-More ranks
-Set up custom user groups(?)
-Create 'The Declaration' as per Ecks's's's draft.
Is there anything anyone would like to see done/changed?

Re: Website Changes
As a suggestion and I rather it not be me, but perhaps another forum admin to help you out with stuff. That way, it's not all on you.
I'm always willing to help, but I don't want an official title and prefer to stay behind the scenes and out of public eye.
As for the only thing I see:
"New and prospective members - please start here. Welcome!"
I think it would sound more friendly if it said:
"New and prospective members, Welcome! - please start here."
I'm not sure why, just seems to have a more jovial and welcoming ring to it. Much less like a corporate document that you fill out as a job application.

Re: Website Changes
I'm with Chainer on the wording for the welcome news. Saying welcome to the Rain Dogs first helps give a friendly atmosphere to the whole thing. Less demanding than " Go here. "
I'm happy with the background. That's just me, though.
I'd like to stay out of the ranks discussion, makes me feel like I'm trying to act self-important. >.<
Custom user groups? Like groups inside the Rain Dogs? If I'm taking the meaning of this correctly, I'm sort of against it. I think in the spirit of the Rain Dogs ( again just what I've gathered from my limited time here ) a group inside the group would ( and normally does ) cause trouble. Seeing as we were all brought together by circumstance, and not necessarily to be an organized group I feel that it would be against what I understand the Rain Dogs to be. ( Just my take on things, not wanting to step on toes. -.- )
And where would this declaration be? Need to read it before I comment on it.

Re: Website Changes
-Ranks are just the 'hey how many posts do you have' under your name.
-By groups, I just mean a custom group for actual Rain Dogs members, rather than just forum members, who can have access to event planning forums, private discussion(?), etc.
-Forwarding declaration to you right now.

Re: Website Changes
I'd like a read of the declaration as well (If possible). As for the groups, I don't see why not. It was almost an MxO staple (If anyone remembers the inner-circle, before it became a mocking point for Mervs.) If it's for events, then most certainly I agree with it. It's always more fun when you're poised with questions both for your character to answer and for yourself to wonder.

As am I. While I have no issue letting "outsiders" see my work or writing or whatever, I think that pretty much everything under the first 4 topics should be accepted members only simply to keep guild issues private. That's my take, anyway...

I chance to differ on opinions of that. I like that we have a rather open-door policy, as if fits our gangs' style. I doubt that I've ever run into anything so secret within a clan/faction/guild that it needs to be kept secret. But, I do always see a possibility of it.
I'm still very adamant about "If we do events, that the people involved with characters/story setup/ect are not public knowledge."

Re: Website Changes
Yes, I quite think I agree with you on such an open door policy because we seem to be a very "open door" group. The Rain Dogs most certainly hold a different set of ideals than any other clan I have been a part of, but I also see some value in keeping some bits of information private (as you said).
Clan events and combat tactics should be at the top of that list, I would think.

Re: Website Changes
aye clan/crew/guild (still not sure what to call it lol) events should remain members only. As for tactics I don't think they need to be behind closed doors unless we come up with some new tricks before any other crew does. The way this game is set-up it'd be better to have a fluid goal in mind that is easy to adapt to the ever changing world, instead of having a predetermined battle plan.
Unless we get so tactic heavy that we make up code names for certain plans 'cuz the enemies can hear us talk in-game too. But I think thats a bit much
I like the idea that we do have the ability to make member only content but at the present time don't think we need to use it. We could have a calender that only members could access for events.

Re: Website Changes
Perhaps "Personals" should be private simply because Rain Dog members want to get to know each other but don't want that information freely available to everyone on the web?

Re: Website Changes
Okay, as of right now (10:24p CDT, June 20, 2010), I believe that all members that should be, are on the roster. Please check for your name, and if you are missing in error, send me a private message.
https://raindogs.forumotion.net/business-f13/the-roster-t116.htm
Expect some forum additions after work on Tuesday, and (hopefully) some visual tweaks prior to the pre-launch on the 26th.

Re: Website Changes
Maybe we should just make a poll to see what sections of the forum people would prefer to make private.
